Donny Lia Returns to the Music City
Donny Lia has had a tough first half of the 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with only two lead-lap finishes in nine series starts, but the New York native hopes that the second half of the season will bring new fortunes and better returns to the SS Green Light Racing team.
The two-time Whelen Modified Tour Champion will be back in the No. 07 Chevy for SS Green Light Racing this week as the stars of the truck series makes a return visit to the Music City on Saturday night for the Nashville 200.
On the heels of several frustrating finishes Lia knows the SS Green Light team is in need of a solid run this week on the high-banked concrete track. “We need to turn this thing around. We need to finish the race,” Donny explained. “We’ve got to run all the laps and finish without tearing anything up. My goal is always to win the race, but this week we need to crawl before we can walk and I will be happy to take whatever finish we can get if we can stay on the lead lap for the whole race.”
“We struggled with a loose truck when we were at Nashville back in April,” he continued. “The team is bringing a different truck this week, it’s the same truck we ran so good with at Charlotte. The guys in the shop have got it fixed-up and it should be a good truck. So we need to have a good run for them for all their hard work.”
This will be Donny’s third race at the mile and a third Nashville Superspeedway; he finished twenty-second in the April race fighting an ill-handling condition. His best finish at Nashville was sixteenth in 2008.
This will be Lia’s tenth start of the 2010 season for the SS Green Light team and will mark his 34th career start in the NCWTS.
Lia will join other NCWTS drivers in a special autograph session at 2:00pm to continue to raise awareness about the recent floods in Nashville through Race Fest for Flood Relief.
There are only 35 trucks on the pre-entry list for the Nashville 200.
There will be two morning practice sessions at the Nashville Superspeedway on Friday, Saturday, August 7th with qualifying at 4:00pm. The race will be shown live on SPEED TV at 9:00 pm and will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio and Sirius Radio.
