Donny Lia Hopes to Build Momentum at Iowa.
Donny Lia will make his seventh start of the 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Sunday at the Iowa Speedway. Lia comes off a strong run three weeks ago at Michigan International Speedway where the New York Native finished thirteenth after running in the top-ten much of the day.
The strong run at Michigan should give Lia and the SS Green Light team some needed momentum heading into the busy summer stretch where the truckers will race in nine consecutive weeks. This week Donny will be behind the wheel of the SS Green Light Racing No. 07 Chevy.
Since 2007, Lia has thirty starts in the NCWTS including four top-tens and one victory at Mansfield back in 2008. This will be Donny’s first start at the Iowa Speedway as the NCWTS made its debut at the track in 2009 while Donny had returned home to race modifieds in the northeast.
Crew Chief Jason Miller is ready for the journey to the Midwest, “Iowa is a first-class facility, the city is great, the people who run the track are great and the fans are unbelievable. I’m really looking forward to this race, it’s one of the best weekends we have all year.”
“The one thing we learned last year was how sensitive the track is to weather conditions, it really tightens up if the sun goes behind the clouds,” Miller added. “With the schedule the way it is, we’ll get to practice under the same conditions we are going to race in so that will help us plan our adjustments accordingly.”
“We are going to bring the same truck that Donny ran at Dover, we had some bad luck there and were a lot faster than our finish showed. We made some minor changes that should help us with front grip so I think we’ll have a pretty good truck.”
The SS Green Light Racing teams have been busy preparing for the long summer stretch of nine straight races. “The guys have been working hard to be sure we are ready for the long stretch,” said General Manager Bobby Dotter. “I’m excited to go out to Iowa and Gateway the next two weeks, I think we should have some very good trucks for those tracks and I think Donny will adapt well to the Iowa track.”
Thirty-eight trucks are on the entry list for the Lucas Oil 200.
It will be a busy weekend for the NCWTS teams with a hauler parade on Friday evening through downtown Newton and a special pre-race autograph session/grid walk will take place at Iowa Speedway from 10:00 to11:00 a.m. on raceday.
Practice for the NCWTS Lucas Oil 200 at the Iowa Speedway will be July 10th from 11:45 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with qualifying at 6:30pm. The race will be shown live on SPEED TV at 1:00 p.m. on July 11th and will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio and Sirius Satellite radio.
