When the NASCAR Camping World Trucks take to the Martinsville Speedway on Saturday afternoon the two SS Green Light Racing entries will have a “modified look” as Burt Myers and Tim Brown take the wheel of the teams No. 07 and No. 08 Chevy Silverados. Both drivers will be making their NCWTS debut this weekend.

The Myers name should be familiar to NASCAR fans as Burt will be the third generation of Myers to run in one of NASCAR’s top three touring series. The Myers Brothers Award is given annually by the National Motorsports Press Association and recognizes individuals or groups who have provided outstanding contributions to the sport of stock car racing. The award is named after two of NASCAR stock car racing's pioneers, the late brothers Billy and Bobby Myers. (Burt’s grandfather and great uncle.) Burt’s father Gary Myers had 46 starts in the Grand National (now Sprint Cup) series from 1972 to 1978.

Myers, a native of Walnut Cove, NC has 76 career feature victories and seven championships since getting behind the wheel in 1995 will pilot the No. 07 with support from The Wyatt Winstead Foundation, Capital Bank of Raleigh, NC, Dynamic Downhole Services and JRC Investments has goals of joining the series full time. “I’m an old school racer who wants to win every time I get behind the wheel, but I know I need to prove myself first,” said Myers. “The goal for this week is to finish all the laps with all four fenders on the truck and position myself to move up. The SS Green Light team has some good equipment and I plan to show that I can compete at this level.”

The SS Green Light team recently tested with Myers at Caraway Speedway. “Burt looked great in our test,” Crew Chief Bobby Dotter said. “He was running lap times as quick as some of the series regulars who were there. I think he has a lot of talent and we’ll do our best to let him show that talent on the track.”

Myers has five starts at Martinsville; all in modifieds including a fifth place run several weeks ago in the Made In America Whelen 300 at the paperclip shaped half-mile track. “I’m excited going to Martinsville, I know the track real well. We finished fifth there last month. It will be a little different in the heavier truck, but I’m confident that Bobby and the team will help me adapt.”

The SS Green Light team will run two trucks at Martinsville as fellow modified driver Tim Brown will make his debut in the NCWTS in the Fastwax sponsored No. 08 in partnership with Rick Ware Racing. Brown finished second in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour championship standings three consecutive seasons, 2006-2008. Tim currently works at Michael Waltrip Racing as a suspension specialist as he prepares the next step as a NASCAR competitor.

Brown and Myers finished one-two in the Modified points at the historic Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC this season and have battled against each other hundreds of times over the last ten years. “Tim and I have a lot of respect for each other. We’re both competitors, we race each other hard, but with respect,” said Myers.

The Wyatt Winstead Foundation was started in 2006 by Pat Winstead to remember his son Wyatt who passed of a brain aneurysm at just three days old. The foundation raises money to donate to various children’s charities in memory of Wyatt.

The Kroger 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway is set for Saturday, October 24th, 2009 beginning at 1:00pm eastern. SPEED TV will live coverage begins at 12:30pm along with MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio.
